Fishing Boat Fire Off Alibaug Coast Leaves Vessel Destroyed, All 18 Rescued

A fire broke out early Friday morning on a fishing boat near Alibaug, Maharashtra, with all 18 crew members rescued by the Indian Coast Guard and Navy.

The fire occurred between 3 and 4 am, approximately 6-7 nautical miles off the Akshi coast in Alibaug, Maharashtra.
All 18 crew members onboard were safely rescued by the Indian Coast Guard and Navy, with no injuries or fatalities reported.
The vessel, owned by three brothers from Sakarakshi village, was completely gutted, resulting in significant financial losses estimated at Rs 1.90 crore.
Preliminary investigations suggest the fire may have originated in the engine room, though the exact cause remains undetermined.
Efforts to stabilize the charred vessel included firefighting, pumping out water, and towing it to the nearest harbor for further inspection.
