Five Arrested for Torture and Murder of Trans Man in New York

Sam Nordquist, 24, endured months of abuse before his body was discovered in a field; authorities describe it as one of the most horrifying cases they've investigated.

Sam Nordquist, a 24-year-old trans man from Minnesota, traveled to New York in September 2024 to meet an online acquaintance, later becoming a victim of prolonged abuse.
Five suspects, aged 19 to 38, including Nordquist's online acquaintance, have been charged with murder and accused of subjecting him to physical and psychological torture over several months.
Nordquist's body was found last week in a field near Canandaigua, New York, after he was reported missing in early February 2025.
Investigators uncovered evidence of severe abuse at a motel where Nordquist had been staying, including the use of belts, ropes, and blunt objects by the accused attackers.
While the crime has shocked the LGBTQ+ community, authorities have stated there is no evidence to classify it as a hate crime, as the suspects also identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community.
