Five Authors Shortlisted for Prestigious Fontane Literature Prize

The €40,000 prize, awarded biennially to emerging authors of significant public interest, will be announced on June 6 in Neuruppin.

The Fontane Literature Prize recognizes authors whose works have garnered exceptional public attention for the first time.
This year's shortlist includes Maren Kames, Lisa Kränzler, Katja Oskamp, Ronya Othmann, and Julia Schoch, each nominated for their recent novels.
The selected works explore major contemporary themes such as family, identity, loss, transformation, and historical atrocities.
The prize, named after Neuruppin-born writer Theodor Fontane, provides a two-year stipend to support recipients in focusing solely on their writing.
The winner will be announced at a ceremony in Neuruppin on June 6, continuing a tradition that dates back to 1913.
