Florida man charged after aborted attempt to cross Atlantic in homemade 'hamster wheel' vessel

A Florida man constructed a hamster wheel-like vessel and attempted to cross the Atlantic Ocean to London.
The U.S. Coast Guard intercepted him 70 miles off Georgia and ordered him to end his voyage.
When authorities tried to remove him he threatened suicide, claimed to have a bomb, and brandished a knife.
After a multi-day standoff he was brought ashore and now faces criminal charges.
This was his fourth attempt at such a voyage since 2014, each time intercepted by the Coast Guard.
