Florida Man Sentenced to Life in Prison for Murdering Wife Over Reality TV Show Dispute

David Tronnes was found guilty of first-degree murder over his wife's 2018 death; he had hoped to feature their renovated home on A&E’s “Zombie House Flipping” which led to disputes and his wife's subsequent refusal to partake upset Tronnes to the point of her murder.

  • David Tronnes has been sentenced to life in prison after being found guilty of the first-degree murder of his wife, Shanti Cooper-Tronnes, in 2018. The guilty verdict was given following five hours of jury deliberations.
  • The murder seems to have sparked from conflicts around their renovated house in Orlando, which Tronnes wanted to feature on the reality TV show, “Zombie House Flipping.” Cooper-Tronnes refused to be a part of the show and this displeased Tronnes.
  • Prosecutors revealed that Cooper-Tronnes was beaten and strangled to death in their home, after which Tronnes allegedly attempted to clean up the crime scene. He claimed he discovered his wife's body in the bathtub after returning from dog-walking and cleaning duties.
  • Further details revealed Tronnes had lied about a supposed multimillion-dollar inheritance and had reportedly been involved in anonymous sexual relations with men at bathhouses. This, reportedly, disillusioned the marriage from Cooper-Tronnes's end.
  • In addition to the disputes over the reality show, the couple also argued over money. Friends and family testified about Tronnes’ misleading claims about having a lot of money, which put the burden of wedding costs and home renovation bills on Cooper-Tronnes.
