Florida Man Swallows $769K Tiffany Earrings After Jewelry Heist

Jaythan Lawrence Gilder, posing as an NBA player representative, was arrested after stealing and swallowing two pairs of diamond earrings from an Orlando Tiffany & Co. store.

Jaythan Lawrence Gilder, 32, pretended to represent an Orlando Magic player to access high-value jewelry at Tiffany & Co. in Orlando, Florida.
He stole two pairs of diamond earrings worth $769,500 and attempted to flee, dropping a $587,000 diamond ring during a scuffle with store employees.
Authorities tracked his vehicle using mall security footage and arrested him on Interstate 10, where he was seen swallowing the earrings during his arrest.
A body scan at the jail revealed foreign objects in his digestive system, believed to be the stolen earrings, which police are waiting to recover naturally.
Gilder, who has a history of similar thefts, including a 2022 Tiffany & Co. robbery in Texas, faces charges of grand theft and robbery with a mask.
