Florida Mother Arrested for Leaving Baby and Toddler Unattended in Running, Unlocked Vehicle While in Bar

33-year-old mother faces child neglect charges with $15,000 bond and past criminal record, including contempt of court and forgery; children discovered unattended in the vehicle by patrolling officer.

33-year-old Jamie Leigh Gunn was arrested on child neglect charges after leaving her 2-year-old and 8-month-old children unattended in an unlocked, running vehicle while she visited a friend at a bar.
The incident was discovered by a police officer conducting a routine business patrol who spotted the vehicle at Penny Annie’s bar in West Melbourne, Florida.
An investigation revealed that Gunn had been in the bar for at least 20 minutes, demonstrating no regard for her children left alone in the car.
Upon learning of law enforcement's presence outside, Gunn expressed more concern about going to jail than the welfare of her children.
Gunn was booked into the Brevard County Jail with a bond of $15,000. The children were handed over to a family member, and the Department of Children and Families was notified to conduct a follow-up investigation.
Gunn has a criminal record that includes contempt of court, forgery, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving while her license was suspended.
