Former White House aide Gabe Amo wins crowded Democratic primary in Rhode Island's 1st Congressional District

Gabe Amo, who previously worked for Presidents Obama and Biden, won the Democratic primary for the vacant House seat.
Amo defeated 10 other Democrats including Lt. Gov. Sabina Matos, former state Rep. Aaron Regunberg, and state Sen. Sandra Cano.
If elected in November, Amo would become the first person of color to represent Rhode Island in Congress.
In Utah's 2nd District GOP primary, Celeste Maloy is leading over former state Rep. Becky Edwards to replace Rep. Chris Stewart.
Amo and the Utah primary winner are expected to easily win the general elections in the heavily partisan districts.
