France Doubles Cocaine Seizures in 2024, Reaching 45 Tons

Drug-related deaths and violent disputes decline as French authorities intensify anti-narcotics operations.

French police have seized 44.8 tons of cocaine in the first ten months of 2024, nearly doubling the total for all of 2023, which was 23.2 tons.
Seizures of other drugs, including amphetamines and methamphetamines, have risen by 33% compared to 2023.
Drug-related violent deaths dropped significantly, with 43 fatalities reported in the first half of 2024 compared to 72 in the same period in 2023.
Over 17,300 traffickers have been arrested in 2024 so far, approaching the 18,100 arrests made in 2023.
The 'Place nette' operations have resulted in 6,800 arrests, the seizure of 690 weapons, 115 vehicles, and €7.5 million in criminal assets over the past year.
