Francoise Bornet, Subject of Iconic 'Paris Kiss' Photo, Dies at 93

  • The image was staged by Doisneau, who had spotted Bornet and her then-boyfriend, Jacques Carteaud, kissing in a cafe and asked them to recreate the scene for his camera.
  • In 2005, Bornet sold an original copy of the photograph, signed by Doisneau, at auction for €150,000 (£130,000).
  • Bornet and Carteaud separated shortly after the photograph was taken, and both went on to have separate careers.
