Overview

  • The FDA and CDC reopened their investigation in April 2025 after finding listeria on equipment at Fresh & Ready Foods, matching the strain from a 2024 outbreak.
  • Fresh & Ready Foods voluntarily recalled over 80 ready-to-eat products, including sandwiches, pastas, and snack boxes, with use-by dates from April 22 to May 19.
  • The recalled products were distributed in California, Nevada, Arizona, and Washington at locations such as hospitals, hotels, convenience stores, airports, and airlines.
  • Of the 10 reported hospitalizations, eight occurred in California and two in Nevada, with illnesses dating back to December 2023 through September 2024.
  • Consumers are advised to discard recalled items and sanitize surfaces to prevent cross-contamination, as listeria can survive in refrigerated environments.
