Frontierland at Magic Kingdom Undergoes Major Changes

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad closed for maintenance, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure under construction, and rumors of Frontierland splitting into two lands circulate.

Frontierland at Magic Kingdom is currently without a major attraction as Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is closed for maintenance until January 21, 2024, and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is still under construction.
Rumors suggest that Frontierland could be split into two different lands: Frontierland, which would include Big Thunder Mountain, and New Orleans Square, which would include Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, replacing Splash Mountain, is a part of Disney's commitment to diversity and is based on the characters of The Princess and the Frog (2009).
Guests visiting Magic Kingdom are advised to keep an eye on the My Disney Experience app for updates on attraction openings and closures.
There is speculation that once Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is completed, Disney might clear land for an all-new land in the Disney World theme park.
