Gary Wright, known for the hit song "Dream Weaver," died Tuesday at the age of 80.
The singer-songwriter was influential in bringing synthesizers and keyboards to pop and rock music in the 1970s.
"Dream Weaver" reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1976.
Wright was inspired by his friendship with George Harrison and their shared interest in Eastern philosophy.
His pioneering use of synthesizers foreshadowed the synth-pop music of the 1980s.
