Gas Pipeline Damage in Andheri East Causes Fire, Injuring Three

Unauthorized roadwork punctured a gas pipeline, leading to a fire that engulfed vehicles and caused severe injuries in Mumbai's Andheri East.

The fire occurred early Sunday morning near Sher-e-Punjab Society in Andheri East due to a gas pipeline rupture caused by unauthorized road digging with a JCB machine.
Three individuals sustained burn injuries: two motorcyclists, aged 21 and 22, and a 52-year-old autorickshaw driver, with burns ranging from 20% to 50%.
The blaze damaged multiple vehicles and was extinguished by the Mumbai Fire Brigade within an hour, with the gas supply temporarily halted for repairs.
Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) stated the pipeline was damaged during uncontrolled digging and emphasized ongoing coordination with municipal authorities to prevent such incidents.
Police have filed a case against the contractor and JCB operator for negligence, with investigations underway to identify all responsible parties.
