Overview

  • Only lightweight packaging like plastic cups, aluminum foil, and plastic bags are allowed in the Gelbe Tonne or Gelber Sack, while non-packaging plastics and bulky items are prohibited.
  • The Grüner Punkt logo indicates participation in the dual system but does not guarantee suitability for the yellow bin; correct sorting depends on the material.
  • Multi-material packaging, such as yogurt containers, must be separated into components (e.g., lids, sleeves) before disposal to ensure effective recycling.
  • Glass recycling requires strict color sorting; only food, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic glass containers are accepted, while items like drinking glasses and ceramics must be disposed of separately.
  • Packaging should be emptied but not rinsed before recycling to conserve water and energy, and mis-sorted items can disrupt recycling processes.
