Global Women’s Seven-a-Side Football Series Announced with $100M Investment

The inaugural 'World Sevens Football' tournament will debut in May 2025 in Portugal, offering $5 million in prize money per event.

The 'World Sevens Football' series is a new global competition designed to expand women’s football and provide substantial financial opportunities for players.
Funded by philanthropist Jennifer Mackesy, the series has a $100 million investment over five years and will be broadcast live by DAZN.
The inaugural tournament will take place in Estoril, Portugal, from May 21-23, 2025, on a grass pitch at Estádio António Coimbra da Mota.
Each event will feature $5 million in prize money, with $2.5 million awarded to the winning team.
A player advisory council, including former internationals Tobin Heath, Caroline Seger, and Anita Asante, ensures a player-centric approach to the series.
