GM Recalls Over 90,000 Cadillac and Chevrolet Vehicles for Transmission Defect

The recall addresses a transmission control valve issue that can cause wheel lock-ups, with affected owners to receive a free software update starting April 21, 2025.

The recall affects 90,081 vehicles, including 2020-2021 Cadillac CT4 and CT5, 2019-2020 Cadillac CT6, and 2020-2022 Chevrolet Camaro models.
The defect involves excessive wear in the transmission control valve, leading to pressure loss, harsh shifting, and rare momentary wheel lock-ups.
Approximately 1% of the recalled vehicles are estimated to have the defect, which increases the risk of a crash.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reopened its investigation in November 2024 after identifying 115 reports of lock-ups and one related accident.
GM will notify affected owners starting April 21, 2025, and provide a free software update to detect and prevent the defect in impacted vehicles.
