Golfer Billy Horschel Uses Club to Safely Shoo Alligator Off PGA Course

The Florida native and PGA Tour player encountered the reptile during the first round of the Cognizant Classic in Palm Beach Gardens.

Billy Horschel, a University of Florida alumnus, used a 60-degree wedge to guide an alligator off the course during his round at the Cognizant Classic.
The incident occurred at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, as Horschel was transitioning from the sixth to the seventh hole.
A police officer on-site initially tried to move the gator but lacked the tools to do so effectively, prompting Horschel to step in.
Horschel, who grew up in Florida, calmly nudged the alligator back into the water, showcasing his familiarity with local wildlife.
Despite the unusual interruption, Horschel completed the first round with a solid 5-under-par 66, finishing tied for 14th place.
