Google adds alerts for Android users to detect unwanted AirTag tracking

Google is introducing "Unknown Tracker Alerts" to notify Android users of unknown devices like AirTags traveling with them.
The alerts provide encrypted location data of the tracker, allow users to make it play a sound, and access info about its owner.
Android phones can now scan for and warn about unknown Bluetooth trackers near them, like Apple AirTags.
Google delayed expanding its Find My Device network until Apple added alerts in iOS for unwanted tracking prevention.
Android users will get notifications if a tracker is detected, can view its location, play sounds to find it, and get tips on disabling it.
