Google Ends Nest Protect and Nest x Yale Devices, Launches Third-Party Replacements

The new First Alert Smart Smoke & CO Alarm, priced at $129, will integrate with the Google Home app and existing Nest Protect devices, launching later this year in the US and Canada.
Google is collaborating with Yale to release the Yale Smart Lock with Matter, priced at $170, designed to work with Google Home and other Matter-compatible ecosystems, available this summer.
Both new devices emphasize compatibility with modern smart home standards like Matter and Thread but face limitations in cross-platform support.
