Google Gemini AI Now Lets Spotify Users Search and Play Music With Voice Commands

The new Gemini extension integrates with Spotify on Android, enabling natural language music requests but with some limitations.

Google's Gemini AI assistant has rolled out a new extension that allows Spotify users on Android devices to search for and play music using natural language commands.
Users can request songs, albums, playlists, or music for specific moods or activities, but the feature requires a Spotify Premium subscription for playing specific tracks.
The integration is only available in English and requires linking Spotify and Google accounts, as well as enabling Gemini Apps Activity in settings.
Gemini cannot create custom playlists or radio stations on Spotify, and the extension does not currently work on iOS, the web app, or Google Messages.
The rollout is part of Google's broader strategy to expand Gemini's functionality across third-party apps, with Spotify being the second non-Google service to integrate after WhatsApp.
