Google Maps Introduces In-Tunnel Navigation Feature

The new feature, currently available only on Android, uses Bluetooth beacons to provide real-time traffic data inside tunnels.

  • Google Maps has introduced a new feature that allows the app to navigate inside tunnels by using Bluetooth beacons.
  • The feature is currently available only on the Android version of the app.
  • Bluetooth beacons are installed in several cities across the globe, including New York City, Chicago, Boston, Paris, Rio de Janeiro, Brussels, and others.
  • The feature needs to be manually enabled in the Navigation Settings of the Google Maps app.
  • The feature was first spotted by some users in October 2023, but now it appears to be widely rolling out.
