Google Messages App May Soon Allow Users to Edit Sent Texts

Google is reportedly developing a feature for its Messages app that would allow users to edit sent text messages, according to code found in the app.
The feature, if implemented, would follow similar capabilities introduced by Apple's iMessage and WhatsApp.
Code changes suggesting the feature were found in a beta version of the Google Messages app dating back to the last week of November.
The feature may also include an edit history, similar to other platforms, but it's unclear if there will be a time limit for editing messages.
It's also unclear how the feature would work with the RCS messaging protocol, a standard not currently supporting message editing.
