Google Replacing Google Assistant with Gemini Across Most Devices

The switch to Gemini, powered by generative AI, will phase out Google Assistant on mobile devices by the end of 2025.

A Gemini-powered experience for home devices like speakers, smart displays, and TVs is also in development, with more details expected in the coming months.
Gemini offers advanced features like multimodal conversations through Gemini Live and Deep Research, designed to act as a personal research assistant.
Devices running Android 9 or earlier with less than 2GB of RAM will be exempt from the transition and retain access to Google Assistant.
