Grandparents of Émile Soleil Arrested on Suspicion of Murder in French Alps Case

Philippe and Anne Vedovini, along with two of their adult children, are in custody as investigators pursue new evidence in the 2023 disappearance and death of their two-year-old grandson.

Émile Soleil, aged two, disappeared in July 2023 while staying at his grandparents' home in Le Haut-Vernet, with his remains found nine months later near the village.
On March 25, 2025, Émile's grandparents, Philippe and Anne Vedovini, and two of their adult children were arrested on suspicion of voluntary homicide and concealing a corpse.
Investigators have been conducting forensic operations and analyzing evidence gathered over recent months, including searches at the Vedovinis' properties in La Bouilladisse and Le Haut-Vernet.
The cause of Émile's death remains undetermined, with possibilities including a fall, manslaughter, or murder, and no formal charges have yet been filed against the suspects.
The grandparents had previously called for the truth to emerge during Émile's funeral in February 2025, adding complexity to a case that has captured national attention in France.
