GTA 6 Hacker Sentenced to Life in Secure Hospital

Rockstar Games Reports $5 Million Loss Due to Cyberattack

Arion Kurtaj, an 18-year-old hacker, has been sentenced to life in a secure hospital after leaking footage from the unreleased video game Grand Theft Auto VI.
Kurtaj, a member of the international hacking group Lapsus$, was found guilty of multiple offenses, including computer intrusion, blackmail, and fraud.
While on bail awaiting sentencing for previous cyberattacks, Kurtaj carried out the Grand Theft Auto hack using an Amazon Fire TV Stick, a hotel television and his mobile phone.
Rockstar Games, the developer of Grand Theft Auto, reported that the hack cost the company $5 million and thousands of staff hours.
Kurtaj will remain in the secure hospital until mental health professionals decide he no longer poses a risk to the public.
