Guatemalan Man Charged with Murder of 2-Month-Old Daughter in New York

Marlon Rabanales-Pretzantzin, 20, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder in the death of his 2-month-old daughter, Liseyda Rabanales-Barrios, in Nassau County, New York.
Police allege Rabanales-Pretzantzin admitted to repeatedly hitting, shaking, and throwing the infant, resulting in fatal injuries including spinal damage, fractured ribs, and sub-cranial bleeding.
Authorities say Rabanales-Pretzantzin confessed to the abuse, stating he believed the child was not his and felt animosity toward her.
An autopsy revealed older rib fractures, suggesting the infant may have been subjected to prior abuse; a one-year-old sibling was removed from the home for evaluation.
Rabanales-Pretzantzin, who entered the U.S. illegally through El Paso, Texas, in 2022, is being held without bail and faces an ICE detainer for potential deportation following legal proceedings.
