Gun Company Sued Over Device Enabling High-Capacity Magazines Used in Mass Shooting
- New York Attorney General Letitia James has sued Mean Arms, a Georgia-based company, for selling a device that made it easy for a killer to replace magazines in his AR-15.
- The device, called an MA lock, was marketed as locking a magazine onto a firearm to prevent gunmen from using detachable magazines, which are illegal in New York.
- However, the lawsuit alleges that Mean Arms knowingly sells a lock that can easily be removed and even provides step-by-step instructions for removing it on the back of its product packaging.
- The killer, Peyton Gendron, used 30-round detachable magazines in the shooting, which allowed him to avoid reloading his gun and may have helped him kill more people.
- The lawsuit claims that Mean Arms sold the locking device "knowing that it can be easily removed to make guns more dangerous."
