Jhon Peter Fleronvil, a Haitian gang leader, has been extradited to the United States to face charges over the kidnapping of four American citizens.
Fleronvil, a member of the Kokorat san Ras gang, was arrested in September 2022 while attempting to flee to the Dominican Republic.
The Kokorat san Ras gang, operating out of Haiti’s Artibonite Valley, is known for violent crimes including murder, robbery, rape, and kidnapping.
The gang has forced people to abandon large areas of cropland, threatening agricultural production.
The extradition follows a judicial decision by the Central Directorate of Judicial Police in Haiti.
