Edan Alexander, a 21-year-old Israeli-American soldier, is set to be released by Hamas as part of a mediated agreement.
Alexander, who was serving in the Israel Defense Forces, was captured during Hamas' October 7, 2023, attack on Israel that left over 1,200 Israelis dead and 251 hostages taken.
The deal also includes the return of the bodies of four other hostages with dual citizenship who died in captivity.
Hamas announced its decision following ongoing negotiations facilitated by mediators in Doha as part of the next phase of a ceasefire with Israel.
