Hamilton County Auditor Brigid Kelly Resigns, Enters Hospice Care

Hamilton County Auditor Brigid Kelly resigned Wednesday to enter hospice care, following a two-year battle with cancer.
Kelly served as auditor for a year, having been elected in 2022, and previously served in the state legislature from 2016 to 2023.
In her resignation letter, Kelly recommended Rep. Jessica Miranda to succeed her, praising Miranda's commitment to transparency, accountability, and service.
The Hamilton County Democratic Party will appoint an auditor to serve until the end of 2024, with the appointee required to run for election in November.
Kelly's tenure focused on modernizing processes, increasing staffing for equity, and advocating for policy changes to improve lives in Hamilton County.
