High Court Dismisses Nicola Adams' Mother's Lawsuit Over Amazon Documentary

Judge rules libel and privacy claims against 'Lioness: The Nicola Adams Story' have no realistic chance of success.

Denver Dorsetra Adams, mother of Olympian Nicola Adams, filed a lawsuit against Amazon over alleged libel and misuse of private information in the documentary 'Lioness: The Nicola Adams Story.'
The High Court dismissed the case, with Judge Susie Alegre stating the claims had no realistic prospect of success in challenging Amazon's defenses of truth and honest opinion.
Dee Adams alleged the documentary falsely portrayed abusive messages she sent to her daughter and misused private information about Nicola Adams' childhood experiences with domestic violence.
The judge noted that much of the contested information had already been made public in Nicola Adams' 2017 autobiography and that Dee initially cooperated with the documentary's production before withdrawing support.
The court emphasized that the family dispute underlying the lawsuit was unrelated to the documentary and that continuing litigation would only expose further private details unnecessarily.
