Historic Danish Coin Collection to Be Auctioned for $72 Million

Lars Emil Bruun's century-old collection, once a reserve for Denmark, includes 20,000 rare items and will be sold over several years.

The collection was kept secret for 100 years as per Bruun's will, intended as a reserve after WWI.
Stack's Bowers Galleries will handle the auction, starting this fall and spanning three to five years.
The collection includes coins, medals, tokens, and banknotes from Denmark, Norway, and Sweden.
Denmark's National Museum has already acquired seven rare coins for $1.1 million.
Some pieces may sell for as little as $50, while others could fetch over $1 million.
