Overview

• The crash occurred around 8:27 p.m. Tuesday in the 2400-block of West Jackson Boulevard when a black sedan ran a red light at Western Avenue and struck a white sedan.
• The 79-year-old driver of the white sedan was transported to Stroger Hospital and pronounced dead.
• A 62-year-old female passenger suffered injuries and was taken to Stroger Hospital for treatment.
• Major Accident detectives from the Chicago Police Department are leading the investigation and no one is in custody.
• Authorities say the only description of the fleeing driver is that they were operating a black sedan and left the scene on foot.
