Hong Kong Activists Sentenced for Bomb Plot

Three members of the 'Returning Valiant' group receive up to six years in prison for planning to place explosives in public places following pro-democracy protests.

Three Hong Kong activists, Ho Yu-wang, Kwok Man-hei, and Cheung Ho-yeung, have been sentenced to up to six years in prison for planning to place bombs in court buildings and other public places.
The activists were part of the 'Returning Valiant' group, which advocates for Hong Kong's independence from China and has urged resistance against the national security law imposed by Beijing in 2020.
The charges were related to plans made in 2021, following widespread pro-democracy protests in Hong Kong.
The defendants were arrested before any of the devices could be made or used, with police seizing equipment believed to be used for making explosives.
Four others involved in the plans were sentenced in May, with one 21-year-old receiving a sentence of five years and eight months, and three others aged between 17 and 20 sent to training centers.
