Overview

  • Local authorities across England will start accepting Household Support Fund applications from June 2025 for residents on low incomes or receiving specific DWP benefits.
  • Birmingham City Council plans to distribute £200 cash payments to households in financial hardship that haven’t received a grant in the past year.
  • From July, Middlesbrough will issue £120 supermarket vouchers to families on six DWP benefits, while Hartlepool Borough Council will offer £100 food vouchers to eligible children.
  • Other councils, including Worcestershire and Cheshire West, have allocated between £100 and £500 per household to assist with energy costs, school uniforms and essential items.
  • Hull City Council’s £5.3 million allocation will fund £200 pensioner payments, £40 school uniform grants and holiday food vouchers once application details are announced.
