Hurricane Don Forms as First Named Storm of 2023 Atlantic Season

Don is located about 480 miles from Newfoundland, Canada and moving north at 12 mph.
The hurricane is expected to dissipate by Tuesday and does not currently threaten land.
Don is the fifth tropical cyclone to reach tropical storm status this season.
Forecasts predict an above-average Atlantic hurricane season this year due to warm ocean temperatures and a potentially active West African monsoon.
