Illustrator Charged Over Transphobic Threats Targeting Children

Mitchell Thomas Watley, a children's book illustrator from Alaska, posted threatening notes referencing shooting children in public places.
Watley's notes displayed an assault rifle and the colors of the transgender flag along with the message "Feeling Cute Might Shoot Some Children."
Watley was arrested for terroristic threatening and had his publishing contract terminated after the notes prompted outrage and fear.
The transphobic threats come amid increasing hostility against transgender people in the United States.
Bookstores have removed Watley's works, and his case will now proceed to court.
