  • The IMD has issued red alerts for Kerala, Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh as extremely heavy rainfall persists on May 30.
  • A deep depression over the Bay of Bengal crossed the West Bengal–Bangladesh coast, bringing squally winds up to 70 km/h and heavy showers to coastal districts.
  • District administrations in Kerala, Mizoram and Karnataka have declared school holidays and restricted nighttime travel in high-range areas after landslides and waterlogging disrupted communities.
  • Strong winds have toppled trees and snapped power lines in Kerala while Mumbai recorded its highest one-day May rainfall since 2021 and Kolkata reported waterlogged streets and train delays.
