Intelligence Officials Die in Storm-Ravaged Boat Accident on Italian Lake

Four people, including two Italian secret service agents and a former Israeli Mossad agent, were killed when a boat carrying 24 people capsized on Lake Maggiore in northern Italy during a sudden storm.
The boat was carrying members of the Italian and Israeli intelligence services, suggesting the outing may have been part of a work meeting.
The dead Israeli, 50-year-old Erez Shimoni, was a retired Mossad agent, Israel's national intelligence agency confirmed.
Magistrates are investigating whether the boat was over capacity and if it should have been on the lake given the severe weather conditions.
The survivors were uninjured, and Shimoni's remains were returned to Israel for burial.
