IOC President Thomas Bach to Step Down After 12-Year Tenure

Bach will resign as an IOC member following the end of his presidency in June, with a new leader to be elected in March.

Thomas Bach, IOC president since 2013, will conclude his term on June 23, 2025, and resign as an IOC member thereafter.
Bach, a 1976 Olympic fencing gold medalist, has served the IOC for over three decades, joining as a member in 1991.
The election for Bach's successor will take place on March 20, 2025, during an IOC session in Greece.
Seven candidates are vying for the presidency, including World Athletics chief Sebastian Coe and former Olympic swimmer Kirsty Coventry.
Other contenders include Juan Antonio Samaranch Jr., David Lappartient, Prince Feisal Al Hussein, Morinari Watanabe, and Johan Eliasch.
