The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds in Kolkata through March 22 due to an anticyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal.
An orange alert has been issued by the Regional Meteorological Centre Kolkata, warning of adverse weather conditions across parts of West Bengal from March 20 to March 22.
The IPL 2025 season opener was set to feature a high-profile opening ceremony with performances by Shreya Ghoshal, Karan Aujla, and Disha Patani.
Both Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bengaluru were preparing to debut new captains, Ajinkya Rahane and Rajat Patidar, respectively, in the anticipated clash.
