Iran and Pakistan Agree to Strengthen Cooperation Following Airstrikes

The two nations commit to combating terrorism and enhancing bilateral trade amidst escalating tensions.

  • Iran and Pakistan have agreed to strengthen dialogue and security cooperation following reciprocal airstrikes earlier this month, which escalated tensions between the two nations.
  • The tit-for-tat airstrikes targeted alleged militant bases in each other's territories, resulting in at least 11 deaths and marking a significant escalation in relations.
  • Both nations have agreed to respect each other's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and to work together to combat terrorism, particularly in their shared border region.
  • The two countries have also agreed to establish free trade economic zones near their border regions to enhance bilateral trade.
  • During his visit to Pakistan, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian is also expected to discuss the recent killing of four Pakistani laborers in Iran's Sistan and Baluchestan
