Irish President Michael D. Higgins Hospitalized for Precautionary Tests

President Higgins was admitted to a Dublin hospital after feeling unwell, with initial test results being positive.

President Michael D. Higgins, aged 82, was taken to hospital in Dublin for precautionary tests after feeling unwell.
The president was initially assessed at his official residence, Áras an Uachtaráin, where no immediate concerns were identified.
Higgins will remain in hospital overnight, and is reported to be in excellent spirits, thanking the medical staff for their care.
He recently presented the 2024 Volta lifetime achievement award and has been active in hosting foreign diplomats and attending events.
Higgins has called for renewed support for UNRWA amidst a funding freeze by several countries, highlighting Ireland's leadership in international humanitarian action.
