IRS to Issue $1,400 Pandemic Stimulus Payments to 1 Million Taxpayers

Eligible taxpayers who missed the 2021 Recovery Rebate Credit will automatically receive payments by January 2025.

The IRS announced that 1 million taxpayers will receive up to $1,400 in stimulus payments after being identified as eligible but having missed the 2021 Recovery Rebate Credit.
These payments, totaling approximately $2.4 billion, are part of a final round of pandemic-related Economic Impact Payments (EIPs).
No action is required from taxpayers, as payments will be sent automatically via direct deposit or paper checks to the bank accounts or addresses on file.
Letters will be sent to recipients notifying them of the payments, which are expected to arrive by late January 2025.
Taxpayers who have not yet filed a 2021 tax return can still claim the Recovery Rebate Credit by filing before the April 15, 2025 deadline.
