The attackers approached the group on a motorcycle, initially asking for directions and later demanding money before assaulting the women and pushing the men into a canal.
Two of the male companions sustained injuries while escaping, but a third, identified as Bibash from Odisha, remains missing.
Police have registered a case under multiple sections, including gang rape and attempted murder, and have formed special teams to apprehend the suspects.
