Jake Knapp Shoots Historic 59 in Opening Round of Cognizant Classic

Knapp becomes the 14th player in PGA Tour history to achieve a sub-60 round, setting a course record at PGA National.

Jake Knapp shot a bogey-free 12-under 59 during the first round of the Cognizant Classic at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
This marks the 15th sub-60 round in PGA Tour history and the first ever recorded in the state of Florida.
Knapp's round included 12 birdies, with stretches of five consecutive birdies to start and another six birdies over seven holes on the back nine.
He narrowly missed an 18-foot eagle putt on the par-5 18th hole that would have tied the all-time PGA Tour record of 58, set by Jim Furyk in 2016.
The 30-year-old, ranked 99th in the world, previously won the 2024 Mexico Open and broke PGA National's course record of 61 with his performance.
