Overview

• Compensation for government employees on duty has seen the largest increase, rising from ₹1 lakh to ₹5 lakh for deaths and from ₹75,000 to ₹1.5 lakh for permanent disabilities.
• Village Defence Guards and ex-servicemen (police) also benefit, with death compensations rising to ₹2.5 lakh and ₹4 lakh respectively, alongside disability increases.
• The enhancements supplement the Central Government’s ₹5 lakh provision for deaths or permanent disabilities caused by terrorist violence.
• The move follows heightened cross-border hostilities and aligns with the administration’s focus on internal security and victim welfare post-'Operation Sindoor.'
