Japan Airlines Offers Clothing Rental Service to Reduce Checked Baggage and Emissions

Japan Airlines is piloting a program allowing passengers to rent clothing in Japan to avoid packing and checking bags.
The program will run as a trial from July 2021 to August 2024 to study how reducing checked bags impacts carbon emissions.
Passengers can rent up to nine clothing items for their trip, with prices ranging from $28 to $49.
The program offers casual and business casual clothing in sizes from small to extra large.
The clothing is sourced from leftover stock and pre-owned items to minimize waste.
