Jason Karels Pleads Guilty to Murdering His Three Children

Sentencing for the Illinois father, who drowned his children, is set for February 16, 2024.

Jason Karels, 36, pleaded guilty but mentally ill to three counts of first-degree murder for the killing of his three children in 2022.
Karels reportedly drowned his children – ages 2, 3, and 5.
Karels will be sentenced to life in prison, without the possibility of parole.
Karels was arrested after a police chase that ended when he crashed his vehicle. He confessed to the murders and his suicide attempts to first responders.
The official sentencing hearing is scheduled for Feb. 16, 2024.
